Customer directory
View, search, and filter everyone who has booked, messaged, or been added to your business.
Quick answer: Customers appear when someone books or messages you, and owners can also add a person or import a CSV. Search by name, email, phone, or booked service, and filter by service, tag, or active/blocked status.
Overview
Your customer directory is a single list of people who have interacted with your business on Sway — through bookings, messages, or both — plus anyone you add yourself. Open any customer to see contact details, visit history, and upcoming appointments.

Add a customer
Owners and admins can click Add customer, then enter first name, last name, and email. Phone is optional. You can mark them as opted in to email marketing only if you already have their permission — Sway cannot verify that. The person is tagged Manually imported.

Import a CSV
Click Import CSV, choose a file, and map your columns to first name, last name, and email (phone is optional). Rows missing those fields or with an invalid email are skipped. If an email already exists, that row is skipped. You can mark the import as opted in to email marketing only if you already have their permission. Imports are capped at 2,000 rows and tagged Manually imported.

Delete a customer
Owners and admins can delete from the row menu or customer details. This removes the person from your directory (tags and marketing preferences included). Past bookings stay. If they book or message you again, they reappear.
Look for: Delete customer
What happens next
Use the directory alongside your calendar and bookings list. For customers who should not book again, block them from their detail view. To remove someone from the list entirely, delete them (admins only).

Frequently asked questions
They need to have booked or messaged you on Sway, or been added with Add customer or Import CSV. Walk-in customers who never booked online won't appear unless you add them or create a manual booking with their details.
